Perform onstage with us in our next Broadway-quality production!

ARSENIC & OLD LACE

Book by Joseph Kesselring
Directed by: Pastor Ryan Brosious
Show Venue: Revival Tabernacle (Watsontown)

Performances: October 30-November 1, 2025

Drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him! Between his aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police—not to mention Mortimer’s own hesitancy about marriage—it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic black comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family.

(Arsenic & Old Lace is presented through special arrangement with Dramatists Play Services.)

Performances:
Thursday & Friday, October 30-31 at 7:00pm
Saturday, November 1 at 2:00pm

About Auditions

If you’d like to perform onstage with us in our comedy stage play of “Arsenic & Old Lace”, auditions are open to anyone ages 18+ in the community!

ALUMNI

If you’re an actor (age 18+) who has worked with us before and has auditioned for our team within the last 10 years, you can be considered for a role in “Arsenic & Old Lace”. If you’re an alumni and wish to be considered for a role, please fill out this short web form (you do not need to submit a video or headshot). Alumni submissions are due by Friday, August 1.

NEWCOMERS

If you’re an actor (age 18+) who hasn’t worked with our team before and would like to be considered for a role, you can audition for “Arsenic & Old Lace”. Here’s how:

  1. Prepare and memorize a short monologue (2-3 minutes) that you find either online or from some other source that fits the style of the character in the show. Your monologue should show a range of emotions and skills.

  2. Film yourself performing your monologue (a cell phone works great!).

  3. Take a picture of yourself and send us a headshot (a cell phone pic is good).

  4. For best results, upload your monologue to YouTube and send us the unlisted (private) link AND your headshot. We’ll reply and send you an audition form to fill out. Email: maryt@saltandlighttheatre.org

(Deadline: All audition submissions are due by Friday, August 1)

Auditioning does not guarantee casting. Due to the limited cast size, not everyone auditioning will be able to be cast for this particular show. All actors are non-paid. You do not have to attend The Narrow Way Church or any other church to audition with Salt & Light Theatre.

After viewing all submissions, actors who are offered a role will receive a phone call from the directors to confirm casting. Once the entire cast is confirmed, an email will be sent to all who auditioned with the cast list.

TIPS FROM THE DIRECTORS

  • Act, don’t just read. We’re looking for actors—so make an impression with your acting, not simply delivering lines.

  • Take the time you need to prepare. Learn a bit about the show you’re auditioning for, get to know the character you’re looking to portray, and tailor your audition to your desired role.

  • Take a deep breath and enjoy the experience! Slow down. Enunciate every word. If you make a mistake, it’s okay, everyone does! Just battle through it and push forward.

  • Be humble. No one is guaranteed a spot in a show. Each part has someone just right for the role—that may be you, but maybe not. If you’re serious about wanting a role, you need to give it your best. Every time.

  • If you don’t get the role you wanted, shake it off as a learning experience, and audition for the next show.
